About Us
Strange Engineering was conceived in the late 50’s by its owner and President Robert Strange. His origins within the hardcore drag racing parts can be traced to a small two car garage in Evanston, Illinois, where Robert began doing rear-end and suspension work for racers. He rapidly developed a reputation for reasonable prices and true concern for quality workmanship.
By the 1960’s the two-car garage was literally buried with jobs, forcing him to seek a larger production facility. The 70’s brought increased involvement with serious racers and chassis builders. As the Strange Engineering reputation grew, other race car companies relied on Strange for product development in order to enhance their product lines.
By the mid-1980’s Strange Engineering increased its manufacturing facility, employed over fifty people and was designing and producing products with state-of-the-art computer aided equipment. The 90’s brought both change and growth. Listening to the drag racing enthusiast’s demand for quality products, Strange Engineering became more involved in developing and manufacturing products for “Street-Strip” applications. In 2001, Strange Engineering moved to its current location in Morton Grove, Illinois.
Today, housed in a 120,000 sq. ft. manufacturing, warehousing and sales facility, Strange Engineering is a family operated business based on principles the company was founded on “Quality Product, Quality Service” and a true enthusiasm for the sport of drag racing.
